But it’s not the only thing I’m in love with. Pasta, dogs, flowers (side business plug!), Parks and Rec, and my guy, Greg are right up there, too.
But even better than that is using this gift to serve people with this big, benevolent heart beating in my chest. Whether it’s a portrait for families who haven’t had one in ages because it’s too pricey or taking great canine shots for dogs needing new homes or traveling to India to photograph women in villages selling jewelry (a trip in the works!), my job is to serve the world through photography and I’m so, so in love with it.
Since 2013, I’ve racked up nearly 200 weddings, and it never gets old. It’s not only been this profound chance to capture significant stories, but to take scenes of life that flash before me and give them to people for them to keep forever.
When you think about it - that gift, that ability - is insane. I get to be this visual storyteller witnessing some of the biggest moments of people’s lives.
"of what use is lens and light
for those who lack in mind and sight?"
This all started with a completely amateur second grade photo of birthday party balloons.
Sure, the composition was a little wonky, but something clicked and a pun-loving prodigy was born.
I carried a camera through school until, in those oh-so-tender years of high school, I stumbled upon love and its greatest artistic expression: wedding photography. I sound sarcastic, but I’m serious. I freakin’ loved it. Fell head over heels.
Greg is my life and business partner. He is my right hand man, my confidante, my constant eye candy. He's not the face of this business, but he's always present, whether it's on the wedding day, or behind the scenes.
Greg has his own company on the side, F&N Custom Design, where he builds and creates installations and furniture. Some of his installations have been featured in wedding publications like Green Wedding Shoes, Junebug, Style Me Pretty, and more.
While I have a passion for working with nonprofits, I also supplement my time by watching HGTV, the best action movies, and making things. Cuddling with my dogs (and Megan somewhere nearby) I dream of buying a million dollar home and then tearing it down to the studs and making it my own. On weekends, I love not only getting to spend that extra time with Megan by working weddings with her, I love being a part of your special day and I will most likely cry at some point.
